Why one operator works

I started in direct sales, selling data analytics software.

Deals moved faster when the buyer already understood how the product fit their use case. Most didn't, so a lot of the early sales calls were spent tying our product to the problems they were trying to solve.

That got me interested in what happened before the sales call. Why did some buyers already see the product as an answer, while others needed half the call just to get from a vague pain point to a specific use case?

That pulled me into SEO first because I could see what people were searching for and how they described the problem. Then I moved into paid, where I could test those ideas faster.

But when a campaign underperformed, it wasn't always the message or targeting. It could be the landing page UX, the form or the tracking. So I started learning how those parts worked too.

The more of that chain I understood, the easier it was to see where performance was really breaking. Before AI, covering that much ground myself was harder, so I tended to work with smaller companies. Now I can do it for companies with US$100M+ in ARR.

That means fewer handoffs, faster decisions and a much clearer view of where things are actually going wrong.

How I work

Agents take the research, drafting, analysis, campaign builds and reporting. I work as strategist, product marketer, copywriter and ops lead alongside your marketing, sales and product people, and leave systems they can keep running.

Elsewhere

Alongside the client work, I co-found Bitcoin-native ventures and mentor operators building as companies of one. About →

The newsletter

Notes from inside the engine.

Every so often I send a note about something I'm working on: a campaign, a bit of code, an experiment that worked, one that didn't, or an idea I'm still figuring out.

Most people reading work in B2B SaaS or are operators of one, like me. The writing gets the finished thinking. The newsletter has slightly rougher edges.
